summer in winter

actually i have watched this movie at the beginning of the year. it's on my top ten movies for now :))

the story basically about a guy, tom hansen (joseph gordon levitt), and a girl, summer finn (zooey deschanel), whose having different perspective on relationships. tom is a romantic and completely fooled by the graduate when he was a pre-teen who also listening to british pop music. summer is at the point where she doesn't believe in love at all.

the movie keeps back and forth from their relational ups and downs. and the whole story is told from tom's perspective. but don't worry, you won't get confused cause it has the informing event whether it be day 500 or day 1.

the soundtracks. well, i gotta say it's quite unordinary. but i recommend mushaboom - feist; please, please, please let me get what i want - she and him; us - regina spektor.

now, my favourite part :))
quotes!!
"most days of the year are unremarkable. they begin, and they end, with no lasting memories made in between. most days have no impact on the course of a life. may 23rd was a wednesday." -narrator

"but it was only one of the few similarities between tom and summer. because they are really two different people.
summer likes ringo star. tom doesn't
summer is introverted. tom is extroverted
summer loved freedom. tom needed a commitment
summer doesn't need attachment. tom questioned the status
summer was very principal. tom was principal-less
summer was to-do-point person. tom was hard to express his feelings
tom has the concept of love. summer doesn't have it." -narrator
"just because she likes the same bizzaro crap you do, doesn't mean she's your soul mate." -rachel hansen
"i like being on my own. relationships are messy and people's feeling get hurt. who needs it?" -summer finn
"people don't realize this, but loneliness is underrated." -tom hansen
"tom: you never wanted to be anybody's girlfriend. and now you're somebody's wife.
summer: surprised me too.
tom: i don't think I'll ever understand that. it doens't make sense.
summer: it just happened.
tom: what just happened?
summer: i just woke up one day and i knew ..
tom: knew what?
summer: what i was never sure of with you."
"tom: destiny, soulmates, and true love, and all that childhood-fairy-tale nonsense. you're right.
summer: i guess it's cause i was sitting in a deli and reading dorian gray and a guy comes up to me and asks me about it and now he's my husband.
what if i'd gone to the movies? what if i had gone somewhere else for lunch? what if i'd gotten there ten minutes later? it was meant to be. and i just kept thinking, tom was right.
tom: no.
summer: yes, i did. it just wasn't me that you were right about."
